Asian Medical Students Association
Asian Medical Students Association (AMSA) International is a peak representative organization for medical students from across Asia, Asia-Pacific and beyond. Training medical students from twenty-four countries combine to share knowledge, undertake activities and social services and create international and trans-continental friendships.
AMSA was officially founded in Manila, Philippines in 1985 and from this day has been an active, dynamic and exciting student-led, not-for-profit, non-political organization. Today, with members and friends spanning the globe AMSA has an active student-exchange program, regularly undertakes national and regional projects, provides humanitarian assistance at times of need, produces quarterly student publications and liaises with the World Health Organization, the Association of Medical Doctors of Asia and many other international and regional medical student organizations. Many notable medical and academic based companies including KAPLAN, Board Vitals, CRC Press – Taylor & Francis Group, Box Medicine, Dr. Smarts and Fast Facts Publishers are among the sponsors of AMSA International.
As the Pakistan chapter of Asian Medical Students Association is concerned so Pakistan attained the status of Full Membership in 2004. Today, AMSA Pakistan is the largest student-governed, medical students representative organization committed to enable medical students to seek knowledge, undertake social and humanitarian projects and promote friendship. The key mandate of the association is to connect, inform and represent medical students of Pakistan. AMSA Pakistan represents students interest in both the public and private sectors and offers valuable tools that empower medical students to do their best work. Since its establishment, AMSA Pakistan continues its commitment in guiding the medical students of the country in creating a harmony with medical students of rest of the world. Today Asian Medical Students Association is regarded to be the Pakistan s largest international level medical students representative organization having representation in over 50 different medical institutes from all the fours provinces of Pakistan with a strong nation-wide network of medical students.
